The World island

The Manmade Archipelago

Lying 4 km off the coast line of Dubai, The World development consists of over 300 man made islands, composed mainly of sand dredged from Dubai's shallow coastal waters, in the shape of a map of the world. Getting its inspiration from holiday destinations like The Maldives, this will surely be one of the exclusive and sought after real estate developments in the UAE and the world.

The islands are divided into four categories - private homes, estate homes, dream resorts, and community islands. Each island rages from 250,000 to 900,000 square feet in size, to 50 to 100 metres of water between each island. The only means of transportation between the islands is by marine or air transport.

The residential islands will provide low rise buildings with stylish apartments, while some islands have been dedicated to villas and water homes. Some islands will be hotel resorts whilst others will provide shopping facilities and restaurants. There will also be a number of marinas spread out across the development giving people the chance to sail around the islands and dock to come on land an experience the joys of the facilities. The break water which surrounds the islands will be made into a coral reef which will attract sea wildlife to the islands, not only making it visually appealing but helping to enhance the life in the sea.

Adding to the uniqueness of the island are the Seahorse villas, featuring submerged bedrooms with views of transplanted corals and waters of the gulf. The one of a kind lifestyle luxury product is a part of a larger hotel development called The Heart of Europe. The villas consists of three levels, one underwater, one at sea level and an upper deck. The totally submerged master bedroom and bathroom commands breathtaking views of marine life.
