This wonderfully planned five-bedroom penthouse occupies a high floor of Opera Grand, resplendent in its layout, a short walk from the Burj Khalifa in the heart of Downtown Dubai. At 7,454 sq. ft., it is unusually large for the area, and planned around its unique outlook. Glass wraps the apartment on every side, providing 360-degree views over the city that changes from sunrise to well after dark.

The Tour

The apartment, inside, opens into a gigantic living and dining space under floor-to-ceiling windows. The floors are pale in veined marble, and the walls and ceilings are in matte white, with a touch of warm oak joinery and timber skirtings for contrast. This palette is deliberately quiet, because the skyline reflects most of the work. There is ample of space for dining, with a generous sitting area around, and, to its surprise, the Dubai Fountain can be clearly spotted from the living area.

The kitchen is well-rested in its own sweet cave, fitted with oak cabinetry, a dark stone splashback and a long stone island. There is also a gas hob and integrated oven. Glazed doors open onto a balcony so you are stirring the pot while watching the skyline. A smaller kitchen area sits off the main circulation, which makes the apartment practical for entertaining as well as for everyday family life.

All five bedrooms follow a similar symmetry, are generously sized, and each has its own ensuite and built-in wardrobes. Several open onto balconies, and the corner rooms have wide glazing, some of it curved, that frames the towers beyond. The principal bathroom is adorned in dark grey marble, with a deep bath, a walk-in rain shower, a separate WC and a double vanity with backlit mirrors. A private study then provides a proper place to work from home, and a maid's room completes the layout.

The spacious balconies are the real draw. They’re built for everything from catching early-morning views of the Burj Khalifa to watching the skyline glimmer at night. Opera Grand offers residents a resort-style swimming pool, a well-equipped fitness centre, a kids' club and landscaped play areas. The building has 24-hour security and a concierge service.
