Part of Dubai's first Andaz branded hotel, The Locale is located on the trunk of Palm Jumeirah right next door to Tiara Residences and opposite to the Nakheel Mall. What makes this eatery stand out from the innumerable others in the city is that they incorporate the use of organic and home-grown produce in their dishes. They make sure to support the local farmers and suppliers by sourcing the materials from them.
Terming themselves as The Neighbourhood Eatery, The Locale features locally inspired cuisine that is influenced by Dubai's culinary stories and the wide range flavours that Dubai has to offer. The fully licensed restaurant offers a laid back coffee house atmosphere and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
My dining partner and I chose to be seated at the restaurant's alfresco terrace, owing to the cool weather. We were offered their rather overwhelming menu which had a touch of most of the renowned cuisines from around the world. For starter, we settled for the half dozen of assorted dim sum that consisted of a mix of Scallop & Spinach, Mushroom & Zatar, Harisa & Chicken and Prawn. The fresh catches that they serve are known to be sourced locally from Dibba Bay and Jabel Ali Fish Farm. They were served to us steamed and were extremely flavourful.
For mains, we opted for Garlic and Herbs marinated Lamb Chop with some mint dip. The lamb tasted fresh, was well cooked, juicy and tasted perfect with the mint dip that the restaurant's staff recommended us.
However, ending the meal without having a taste of the fresh vegetables that they serve was something that we couldn't agree to. We ordered for a locally grown organic green salad and a very flavourful Josper grilled eggplant with tahini sauce, pine nuts and gremolata. Having sourced from Greenheart Organic Farm in Ajman, the vegetables in the salad tasted as fresh as they looked.
To end the wholesome and healthy dining experience, we were recommended The Locale's speciality, Taste of Dubai. The unique and innovative dessert was served in a bowl and featured cumin chocolate, fig and honey cream and edible perfume.
The Locale is a licensed restaurant, therefore it is an ideal place where you can also choose to try one of their specialities which will be complemented by their impeccable service.
