Riviera Residences

Riviera Residences is a waterfront residential development by MERED on Al Reem Island, Abu Dhabi, designed by the internationally recognised architectural practice Herzog & de Meuron. The project brings together a collection of apartments and exclusive villas in a prominent waterfront setting, with architecture inspired in part by Abu Dhabi's pearl-diving heritage. The building's shimmering façade treatment references mother-of-pearl and connects the contemporary design to the region's history.

The residential collection includes 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom apartments, alongside five Bay Villas, six Sky Villas and a penthouse. Apartment sizes start from 689 sq. ft. for one-bedroom residences, 1,152 sq. ft. for two-bedroom residences and 1,862 sq. ft. for three-bedroom residences. The five Bay Villas comprise three- and four-bedroom homes, with sizes ranging from 5,490 to 6,501 sq. ft., while the six Sky Villas range from 7,675 to 10,247 sq. ft.

The residences focus on natural materials and generous private outdoor areas. MERED specifies fully equipped kitchens with high-end appliances, private balconies or terraces, built-in wardrobes, natural wood flooring and high-quality materials and finishes.

A waterfront promenade forms an important part of the project concept. MERED describes the promenade as a destination with cafés, dining terraces and boutique retail, bringing everyday amenities directly to the waterfront. The development is intended to create a residential environment that connects the city skyline with the shoreline.

Riviera Residences also places considerable emphasis on leisure, wellness and recreation. The project includes four distinct pools, along with a mix of sports, wellness, and family spaces.

The development is located on Al Reem Island, one of Abu Dhabi's established waterfront residential districts. MERED highlights access to beaches and padel clubs, fine dining and cafés, Reem Mall and The Galleria, Repton and GEMS schools, Sorbonne University, Central Park, hospitals and clinics, business centres and five-star hotels.

Architecture and landscape design are central to the project's identity. In addition to Herzog & de Meuron, the project team includes Michel Desvigne Paysagiste for landscape architecture and DAR as a consulting partner. Herzog & de Meuron is responsible for the architectural concept, while Michel Desvigne Paysagiste brings its expertise in landscape architecture and urban planning.

MERED's official website currently targets Q3 2029 for completion, with a payment plan requiring 50% during construction and 50% on completion.

Riviera Residences therefore combines a prominent architectural concept with a varied residential offering, from more compact apartments to very large villas. Its waterfront promenade, extensive amenities and position on Al Reem Island give it a distinct proposition within Abu Dhabi's growing luxury residential market.
