In this edition of 'Open House', we speak to Vipin S. about his Palm Jumeirah apartment for sale and on creating a functional space for his family and yet retaining its contemporary look.
Vipin: As we are a family of four with two children, we wanted to fulfill the functional potential of our home through the creation of additional study spaces, as well as additional storage for toys and the kids' stuff to make sure the space remains clean and elegant. Overall, we wanted a contemporary modern, elegant and chic apartment.
In the living room, we installed high end Italian contemporary chandeliers, with a marble featured wall and made to measure units and shelving panel with a 65- inch TV and Sonos sound bar installed.
In order to create a unified look, we changed out the flooring as well as the kitchen. We used dark floor tiles for the kitchen with white cabinetry; changed the sink and then installed Bosch appliances as well as a modern and integrated Hacker kitchen unit.
Vipin: All the bedrooms have Hacker cupboards installed to maximize the space. The beds are all from Pottery Barn, with the exception of the master bedroom which has a Tempur bed and mattress. The master bedroom also has a Hacker walk-in wardrobe fitted with a pull out draw for maximum space and clever storage. We also created two studies between bedrooms which also have Hacker units installed to make it a functional study, which is perfect for our family with two children.
All bathrooms have been completely renovated too, we used made-to-measure units, stone flooring, and wall hanging toilets. All the fixtures are high end Italian or German fittings. Our master bathroom was fixed with similar taps and toilets; we had the walls smashed so maximum space to be used. We put in a large walk in shower with mosaic tile finishing floor, as well as a contrasting finish for the walk in shower and big bath section.
In order for better energy efficiency, we also installed a Nest thermostat that can be programmed for efficient AC and automatically turn off if you leave.
Vipin: What we loved most about living on the Palm Jumeirah is that it's such an iconic landmark and has a wonderful feel about it! The views are absolutely magnificent as we are so close to the water, and the Marina with its boats and yachts. Watching the sunset daily is incredible. Proximity to the beach and beach clubs, especially for the family with 2 children - is a MUST! The apartment also comes with access to the beach club at the Fairmont Hotel for a family of four. We also enjoy the proximity to Nakheel Mall with all its dining, shopping, and attractions. It's a very family-friendly community. I think the apartment has one of the most desirable locations, has great value, and views. You can observe all the amazing fireworks on the national holidays right from the comfort of your own balcony. I think this apartment would be ideal for families who value the quality, sophistication as well as the convenience of the location to enjoy this resort-style community on the iconic Palm Jumeirah.
