Even though we rarely get to enjoy the great outdoors, we pretty much are assured of sunshine all year round here in Dubai. Of course, this means getting the right furniture that can sustain the harsh heat and making sure your plants don’t suffer during the summer months. With a rise in interest with self-gardening, more and more people are growing their own produce. Here’s a Luxhabitat guide to furnishing your outdoor spaces:
Because pools are being used almost all year round, it makes sense to have a good sunlounger. The featured chaiselongue above from the DNA Collection by Gandia Blasco. DNA recoups the Mediterranean sun’s attenuated reflection that evokes a decorative rawness through its laminated aluminium structure. The entire collection is inspired by a subtle game of the light and shade modulations typical of the Mediterranean and a eulogy to the aesthetic of the shadow as understood in traditional and contemporary Japanese architecture: the positive and the negative free of any superfluous ornament. Gandia Blasco is available locally in Finasi stores.
Another option would be the Kettal Landscape. Its rationalist construction seeks to give order, form and structure to the outdoor space, although, in terms of function, it has been designed to give shelter: to shade and cool or protect from the rain and wind. It is not understood as an item apart, but instead relates to its environment and melds with it. Kettal is available at Obegi Home.
If you’re worried about both maintenance and finding the right shades sfor your home, Parasol Furniture located in Umm Suqueim is the place. They help set out your requirements by first visiting the space and then making their recommendations, Their umbrellas and shade systems are aplenty in terms of variety, All their beach umbrellas come with a warranty. They carry brands such as FIM from Italy, Expormim from Spain and President from Indonesia.
Forming part of a modular structure, the outdoor sofas by Gandia Blasco are stunning from end to end. Made of anodized or thermo-lacquered aluminium profiles, the mats are covered with water-repellent fabric. Extremely comfortable, they are a perfect contemporary addition to grace the outdoors.
Nakkash Gallery on Sheikh Zayed Road also offers both modern and contemporary brands that are exemplary. They also indoor furniture. Some of their notable brands are Dedon, Serralunga, Royal Botania, Rausch, Manutti, Kenkoon, Tuuci and Kenneth Cobonpue. This Lebanese family-owned gallery hosts some of the most exquisite pieces.
If you fancy yourself as having a green thumb, look no further for your needs than Dubai Garden Centre. Ranked the best garden store in 2016 by Inside Out, it also manages plants and flowers for events as well as BBQ equipment.
Planters specialises in the supply of superior interior & exterior landscaping, offering the very best in terms of design, range of products, and on-going maintenance. They take care of everything including: exterior and interior landscaping, plant maintenance, plant walls and more.
A bit of a new phenomenon, but not completely unheard of (this is Dubai afterall) but container offices and settings are rapidly becoming parts of backyards and lawns. Smartbox is the pioneer here. They specialise in Steel Modular Construction with SMART Modules. The ISO Marine Container is treated as a base building block. With it, they build products to meet clients needs. All Smart Boxes are safe, energy efficient, environment-friendly, stackable, transportable, adaptable, durable, recyclable, cost-effective, reusable and strong.
